IKGPTU Result 2026

I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU), headquartered at Kapurthala, is Punjab's main state technical university — engineering, management, pharmacy and architecture colleges across the state are affiliated to it. It was set up as Punjab Technical University by an act of the state legislature in 1997, and renamed in 2015 in honour of former Prime Minister I.K. Gujral. If your older marksheet or degree says "PTU," it's the same institution and the same qualification — the renaming didn't affect validity.

What "semester result" means here

Like most large affiliating universities, IKGPTU doesn't have one university-wide result day. Each regulation, course and semester is processed and published on its own schedule through the odd/even semester cycle, so results for different branches and years appear at different times through the season.

Most students are enrolled through an affiliated college rather than the university's main campus or its regional centres (Kapurthala, Amritsar, Batala, Hoshiarpur, Mohali). The portal result is what you'll see first; your official marksheet is issued through your college, and it's the document that actually matters for admissions and job applications.

How to check

1. Open ptu.ac.in and go to the results section.
2. Select your course, semester and examination session carefully — a neighbouring session is the most common reason a result "isn't there."
3. Enter your roll number / enrolment number as printed on your admit card.
4. Save the result as a PDF as soon as it loads.

Reappear papers and re-evaluation — different processes

• Reappear (backlog) exams for a paper you didn't clear are usually scheduled alongside the next regular semester's exam for that subject. Registration for the reappear is separate from your regular semester registration and is announced through your college — track it there.
• Rechecking verifies your marks were totalled and recorded correctly.
• Re-evaluation is a fresh assessment by another examiner, costs more, and can move a mark up or down — apply only through the official window on the student portal, with the fee set per paper for that cycle.

Both windows close soon after the result, so decide quickly rather than after the deadline has passed.
