Bengaluru City University Result 2026

Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru City University — known to most students simply as BCU — was carved out of Bangalore University in 2017, when the Karnataka government trifurcated the older university into Bangalore University, Bengaluru North University and Bengaluru City University. BCU inherited the historic Central College campus at the heart of the city and a jurisdiction limited to Bengaluru's own assembly constituencies, rather than the wider metropolitan or rural areas the other two cover. It was renamed in August 2025 in honour of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh — the first Indian university to carry his name.

What "semester result" means here

BCU affiliates well over 200 colleges across arts, science, commerce, education and a growing set of vocational and diploma programmes, with several postgraduate departments run directly by the university. There is no single result day: each course and semester is evaluated and published as the examination branch finishes processing it, so results for different programmes — and even different colleges running the same programme — routinely appear days or weeks apart.

The result on the portal is provisional. Your marksheet is issued through your college, and because BCU is a young university still settling its own administrative processes post-trifurcation, that gap between the online result and the physical document can run longer than at older, more established universities. Plan around it if you need the marksheet urgently for admissions or a job offer.

How to check

1. Open bcu.karnataka.gov.in and look for the results / examinations link.
2. Select your exact course, semester and academic year — since colleges were reassigned during the 2017 split, make sure you're checking under BCU and not the old Bangalore University listings if you're looking up an older result.
3. Enter your roll number / registration number as printed on your hall ticket.
4. Save the result as a PDF immediately.

If a mark looks wrong, or you can't find your result

• Rechecking or revaluation applications open for a short window after each result, applied for through your college examination cell with a fee per paper — rechecking confirms totalling, revaluation is a fresh assessment that can move a mark either way.
• If your result simply isn't showing, first confirm whether your college's affiliation is with BCU or with Bangalore University / Bengaluru North University — students sometimes search under the wrong one, particularly for admissions from before 2017.
• For a backlog or supplementary paper, your college examination cell will have the schedule for the next chance to clear it; BCU generally runs these alongside the following regular cycle.
