Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University began as Bhagalpur University on 12 July 1960, formed from colleges that had until then been affiliated to Patna University in and around Bhagalpur. In 1991 it was renamed after Tilka Manjhi (also known as Jabra Pahariya), a Santhal-Paharia leader remembered for leading an armed uprising against East India Company rule in the Rajmahal hills in the 1780s, decades before the events of 1857 — he is widely regarded as one of the earliest tribal freedom fighters in the region. The university's roughly 264-acre campus sits in Bhagalpur, and it runs six faculties — science, social science, humanities, commerce, management studies and law — through around 34 teaching departments, five research centres, twelve constituent colleges and a further set of affiliated general and B.Ed colleges spread across the districts it serves.

Why a result might not show up yet

TMBU covers a wide spread of constituent and affiliated colleges, so results are processed and published college by college and course by course rather than on a single date. Check the exact scheme your programme follows — TMBU runs both semester and annual patterns depending on the course — and note whether your college is a constituent college (run directly by the university) or an affiliated one, as processing timelines can differ between the two.

The result on the portal is provisional. Your marksheet is issued by your college or the university's examination branch, typically some weeks later.

How to check

1. Open tmbuniv.ac.in and go to the results / examination section.
2. Select your exact course and semester.
3. Enter your roll number as printed on your admit card.
4. Save the result as a PDF as soon as it appears.

If a mark looks wrong, or a paper didn't clear

• Scrutiny confirms your marks were totalled and transcribed correctly; re-evaluation sends the answer script to another examiner for a fresh look, at a higher fee.
• Both are applied for through your college examination cell, which forwards the request to the university's Controller of Examinations, within the short window announced after each result.
• For a backlog or ATKT-style paper, ask your college when the next examination for that subject is scheduled.
