Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University, Bhopal was created under the Madhya Pradesh University Act, 1991, and formally inaugurated on 19 October 1992 by then President Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma. It is named after Raja Bhoj, the 11th-century Paramara king who ruled Malwa from Dhar and is remembered in regional history as a scholar-king who patronised learning and the arts — a fitting namesake for a university built entirely around open and distance education. Spread across a roughly 50-acre campus in Bhopal, it is counted among the larger open universities in India by enrolment, offering undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate programmes across arts, science, commerce, management and education, and is recognised by the UGC, DEB, AICTE, NCTE and other regulatory bodies.
Why "term-end result" and not "semester result"
As an open university, MP Bhoj runs on distance and self-study mode rather than regular classroom semesters. Students sit term-end examinations at scheduled points in the academic session, and results are compiled centrally rather than college by college. That means your result date depends on your programme and session, not on any particular study centre.
The result on the portal is provisional. Your grade card and final marksheet are issued separately by the university and can take longer to catch up with the online result — plan for that gap if you need the physical document.
How to check
- Open mpbou.edu.in and go to the results / examination section.
- Select your exact course and session.
- Enter your enrolment number as printed on your identity card.
- Save the result as a PDF as soon as it appears.
If a mark looks wrong, or assignment marks are missing
- Rechecking / revaluation is applied for within a short window after each result, with a fee per paper, through the university's regional centre or study centre network.
- If assignment marks aren't reflecting, check with your study centre first — internal assessments are evaluated there before being consolidated by the university.
- For a backlog paper, the next term-end exam for that subject is usually held with the following session — check the exam schedule notified on mpbou.edu.in.
Before you rely on any of this
We publish result status and official links — we are not MP Bhoj Open University, and we cannot look up, alter or re-check a result. Session timelines, revaluation fees and centre-wise procedures are set by the university and do change between cycles. Confirm the current position with your study centre or the university's exam section.
