Madurai Kamaraj University, established in 1966 and named after the veteran Tamil Nadu chief minister and Congress leader K. Kamaraj, runs from a 528-acre campus in Madurai. Its affiliation reaches well beyond the city and district it's named for — around 117 colleges across more than 40% of Tamil Nadu, spanning government, aided, autonomous, self-financing and evening institutions, are affiliated to it. A single semester's results, released through the university's Controller of Examinations, therefore roll out across a genuinely wide and varied student body.

What "semester result" means here

Because MKU's affiliated colleges are spread across so much of the state rather than concentrated in one city, there is no single result day. Each course, semester and college batch is evaluated and published as it's processed, so a college near Madurai and one in a distant affiliated district can see results days apart even for the same programme. Also check whether your course runs on the semester or annual scheme — both exist depending on the programme.

The result on the portal is provisional. Your marksheet is issued by your college, typically some time after the online result — plan around that gap if you need the physical document for an admission or job application.

How to check

  1. Open mkuniversity.ac.in and find the results / examinations section.
  2. Select your exact course, semester and scheme.
  3. Enter your register number / roll number as printed on your hall ticket.
  4. Save the result as a PDF as soon as it appears.

If a mark looks wrong, or a paper didn't clear

  • Retotalling/rechecking confirms your marks were added and recorded correctly — the faster, cheaper option.
  • Revaluation sends the script to another examiner for a fresh look, at a higher fee, and can move the mark up or down.
  • Both are applied for through your college examination cell within the short window announced after each result.
  • For an arrear/backlog paper, ask your college when the next examination for that subject is scheduled — MKU generally runs these alongside the following regular cycle.

Before you rely on any of this

We publish result status and official links — we are not Madurai Kamaraj University, and we cannot look up, alter or re-check a result. Scheme rules, revaluation fees and arrear timelines are set by the university and do change between cycles. Confirm the current position with your college examination cell.

If anything here is out of date, tell us — corrections jump the queue.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check my Madurai Kamaraj University result?
Open the results section on mkuniversity.ac.in, choose your course and semester, and enter your roll number / register number. Keep a printout or PDF — the official marksheet is issued separately by your college.
Why is my college nowhere near Madurai, yet still under MKU?
Madurai Kamaraj University's affiliation footprint spreads well beyond Madurai district — it affiliates around 117 colleges spanning more than 40% of Tamil Nadu, including many self-financing and evening colleges. Results are released college-batch by college-batch across that whole spread, so a delay usually just reflects your batch's place in that processing order.
Can I apply for revaluation at Madurai Kamaraj University?
Yes — rechecking (retotalling) and revaluation applications open for a limited window after each result, with a fee per paper, submitted through your college examination cell. Revaluation is a fresh assessment by another examiner and can move a mark in either direction.
