Kumaun University, headquartered at Nainital with campuses at Almora and Bhimtal, serves the Kumaon division of Uttarakhand through its own departments and a wide network of affiliated colleges. Results are published on the university portal through the year rather than on a single announcement day.

What "semester result" means here

Every programme and semester is evaluated and published on its own schedule. There is no university-wide result date, which is why this page tracks a continuing status: your result depends on your programme's evaluation cycle, not on a common announcement.

For students in affiliated colleges — the majority — there is a second step that matters as much as the first. The result appears on the portal; the marksheet reaches you through your college. Those two events are separated by a real gap, and the second one is what a future admission or employer will ask to see.

How to check

  1. Open the Kumaun University result portal from the official link on this page.
  2. Choose the exact programme, semester and examination session. Selecting a neighbouring session is the usual reason a result "does not exist".
  3. Enter your roll or enrolment number as printed on the admit card.
  4. Save it as a PDF immediately.

What to do in the first week after your result

This is the window where action is cheap and inaction is expensive.

If you have a back paper, find out from your college examination cell when the form opens and closes. These windows are short, announced through colleges, and easy to miss while you are still absorbing the result. A missed form costs a full cycle; the paper itself costs a few weeks of preparation.

If a mark looks wrong, decide quickly between rechecking and revaluation. Rechecking verifies that marks were totalled and recorded correctly. Revaluation is a fresh assessment of your script — a different process, with its own fee and timeline. Both have application windows that close soon after the result, and at many universities a revaluation can move a mark in either direction, so read the regulation before applying.

If everything is in order, still do one thing: check that your name, parentage and enrolment number on the result match your other documents exactly. Discrepancies are far easier to fix now than during a degree verification years later.

Planning around the gap between semesters

Students in the Kumaon region frequently combine study with work, or travel a significant distance to their college. Two habits are worth building:

  • Keep your own document set. Save every semester's result as a PDF as it appears, in one place. Reconstructing six semesters of marksheets at the point of applying for a job or a PG course is a common, avoidable scramble.
  • Do not wait for the final year to collect originals. Marksheets are issued per semester. Collect each as it is issued, and confirm receipt with the college office.

For the final semester

Your degree certificate follows the last semester's result on the university's own timetable, and is normally issued through the college. If you have an admission or employment deadline that needs proof of graduation before the degree is ready, ask the examination cell about a provisional certificate — that is what it exists for, and requesting it early is much easier than requesting it urgently.

Before you rely on any of this

We publish result status and official links — we are not Kumaun University, and we cannot retrieve, alter or re-check an individual result. Examination regulations, back-paper rules, revaluation terms and certificate timelines are set by the university and do change. Confirm the current position on the university portal or with your college examination cell.

If anything here is out of date, tell us — corrections jump the queue.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check my Kumaun University result?
Open the results section on kunainital.ac.in, choose your course and semester, and enter your roll number. Keep a printout or PDF — the official marksheet is issued separately by your college or the university.
Why can't I find my result when others can?
Large affiliating universities release results course by course rather than all at once, so a missing result usually means your programme is still being processed. Also check whether your course runs on the semester or annual scheme — they are published separately.
Can I apply for re-evaluation at Kumaun University?
Yes — scrutiny, rechecking or re-evaluation applications open for a limited window after each result, with a fee per paper. Watch the university's notices, as the window is usually short.
