Bangalore University was established on 10 July 1964, carved out of the University of Mysore to serve the growing city and its surrounding districts. It began with just two institutions at its core — Central College and the University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering — before moving most of its operations to the newly built Jnana Bharathi campus in 1973. As Bengaluru's college network kept expanding, the university crossed 600 affiliated colleges, and in 2017 the state government split it into three: Bangalore University retained the Jnanabharathi campus and its core jurisdiction, while Bengaluru City University (based at the old Central College campus) and Bengaluru North University (Kolar region) took over the rest. Bangalore University today affiliates close to 500 colleges.
Why a result might not show up yet
Because of that 2017 split, the single biggest reason a result doesn't appear here is a wrong portal — check whether your college now falls under Bengaluru City University or Bengaluru North University rather than Bangalore University itself. Beyond that, with hundreds of colleges still under Bangalore University, results are published course by course and college-batch by college-batch rather than all at once, so a short delay for your specific programme is normal. Also confirm whether your course runs on the semester or annual scheme — they're published on separate timelines.
The result on the portal is provisional; your marksheet is issued by your college, typically some weeks later.
How to check
- Open bangaloreuniversity.karnataka.gov.in and find the results / examination section.
- Select your exact course and semester.
- Enter your roll number / register number as printed on your hall ticket.
- Save the result as a PDF as soon as it appears.
If a mark looks wrong, or a paper didn't clear
- Rechecking verifies your marks were totalled and recorded correctly.
- Revaluation sends the script to another examiner for a fresh assessment, at a higher fee, and can move the mark either way.
- Both are applied for through your college examination cell, which forwards the request to the university, within the short window announced after each result.
- For a backlog paper, ask your college when the next examination for that subject is scheduled.
Before you rely on any of this
We publish result status and official links — we are not Bangalore University, and we cannot look up, alter or re-check a result, or tell you which of the three post-split universities your college belongs to. Release schedules, revaluation fees and jurisdiction assignments are set by the university and the state government, and do change. Confirm the current position with your college examination cell.
If anything here is out of date, tell us — corrections jump the queue.
