HP TET Result 2026

HP TET is the Himachal Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test, conducted by HPBOSE. Clearing it does not get you a teaching job — it makes you eligible to apply for one. That distinction is the single most misunderstood thing about every TET in India, and it shapes everything you should do after the result.

What clearing HP TET actually gives you

A TET is a qualifying examination, not a recruitment examination. Passing it puts you in the pool of people permitted to apply when the state advertises teaching posts. Selection then happens separately, usually on a merit list that weighs your academic record and the recruitment process itself.

So the result you are waiting for answers one question — are you eligible or not — and it is worth being clear-eyed about that before you plan around it.

Two things follow:

• A high score is still worth having. Several state recruitment processes give weight to the TET score when building merit lists, so the margin above the cut-off is not always wasted.
• The certificate is the asset, not the scorecard. Recruitment applications ask for the eligibility certificate, and its validity period is what determines how long your effort keeps working for you.

Papers, and choosing the right one

TETs are split by the class level you intend to teach — broadly, one paper for the primary years and another for the upper-primary years, with subject-specific variants layered on top for particular posts.

Candidates lose a cycle by sitting the wrong paper. Before you register for a future attempt, work backwards from the post you actually want to apply for, check which paper that post's recruitment notification demands, and register for that one. Do not assume the paper you sat last time is the paper the next vacancy will ask for.

If you intend to apply for posts at more than one level, you generally need to qualify in each corresponding paper.

How to check your result

1. Open hpbose.org and find the TET result section.
2. Select the correct paper and session — HPBOSE runs multiple TET papers, and picking the wrong one returns nothing.
3. Enter your roll number as printed on the admit card.
4. Save or print the scorecard immediately, and download the eligibility certificate when it is issued.

Keep a PDF copy of your own rather than depending on the portal months later, when you are mid-application and the site is busy.

The qualifying mark, and the reservation you should check

TETs use a fixed qualifying percentage rather than a shifting cut-off — you are competing against a threshold, not against other candidates. Reserved categories typically qualify at a relaxed threshold. The exact figures for your cycle are stated in the official notification and on the result page; confirm them there rather than relying on what applied in a previous year.

Because the bar is fixed rather than relative, a large number of candidates can clear the same cycle. Clearing is not a scarce achievement, and you should assume the competition begins at the recruitment stage rather than at this one.

Certificate validity — plan around it

Your eligibility certificate is valid for a defined period from the date of the result. That window is what you are really managing:

• Note the expiry the day you receive the certificate.
• Track HP's recruitment notifications through that period — the certificate is only useful if a vacancy is advertised while it is live.
• If the window is closing and no suitable vacancy has appeared, plan a re-attempt before it lapses rather than after.

Candidates routinely qualify, wait passively for a vacancy, and discover the certificate has expired by the time one arrives.

If you did not clear

TETs are held on a repeating cycle, so a re-attempt is a matter of months rather than years, and there is generally no limit on the number of attempts. Get your scorecard, identify which section pulled you below the threshold, and target that rather than revising everything evenly — the child-development and pedagogy sections are where candidates from strong subject backgrounds most often lose marks, precisely because they revise their subject instead.
