Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur was established in 1966 as Kanpur University under the Kanpur and Meerut Universities Act, 1965, set up to take pressure off Agra University, which at the time covered a large swathe of western and central Uttar Pradesh. In 1995 it was renamed after Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj, the progressive ruler of the princely state of Kolhapur remembered for introducing free and compulsory primary education and, notably, one of India's earliest reservation policies in government jobs and education for socially backward communities, decades before independence. The university today affiliates a large number of colleges spread across Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat and several neighbouring districts, and holds NAAC's top accreditation grade.

Why a result might not show up yet

CSJMU's affiliating area spans multiple districts, so results are processed and released college by college and course by course rather than on one fixed date. Before assuming something is wrong, check the exact scheme your programme follows — semester and annual patterns are both in use depending on the course — and confirm your college's exact affiliating district, since UP's university boundaries have been redrawn over the years and a college can sometimes report to a different university than expected.

The result on the portal is provisional. Your marksheet is issued by your college or the university's examination section, typically some weeks later.

How to check

1. Open csjmu.ac.in and go to the results / examination section.
2. Select your exact course and semester.
3. Enter your roll number as printed on your admit card.
4. Save the result as a PDF as soon as it appears.

If a mark looks wrong, or a paper didn't clear

• Scrutiny/rechecking confirms your marks were totalled and transcribed correctly.
• Revaluation sends the answer script to another examiner for a fresh look, at a higher fee, and can move the mark either way.
• Both are applied for through your college, which forwards the request to the university's Controller of Examinations, within the short window announced after each result.
• For a backlog or improvement paper, ask your college when the next examination for that subject is scheduled.
